A free public TMC service is provided in Spain by the various traffic administrations. At present:
- SCT as the operator of traffic management in Catalonia Autonomous Community
- DT in the Vasc Country Autonomous Community
- DGT (Traffic General Directorate) as the operator for the rest of the country's traffic management.
The road network coverage is the motorways, national roads and first level roads that belong to the Autonomous Communities. All the information of the more than 4000 TMC segments events is collected by DGT and Spanish National Radio (RNE) broadcasts nationally, ensuring the coded info reaches all the State. It is foreseen to create a new Location Table during 2005 so in the second semester a new 50% increase in TMC-coded locations will cover changes to the Spanish road network.
