TMCpro service available in Germany

Creation date:  19 March 2005

T-Traffic, a 100% subsidiary of T-Mobile International, has officially launched a commercial traffic information service branded TMCpro on the German market. The TMCpro service offers high-quality  traffic information broadcast over FM-RDS to TMC-enabled satellite navigation systems.

The dynamic database used to generate  the real-time traffic messages of TMCpro comprises three major information sources: a stationary network of 4.000 infra-red sensors mounted on motorway bridges across Germany, a fleet of vehicles sending  Floating Car Data to a computing center and data collected from a dedicated public infrastructure of appr. 6000 inductive loops. Additionally traffic reports from police authorities complete the information input.

TMCpro is using the transmitter network of private broadcasters  to deliver its high-quality traffic information country-wide. The service delivery is fully compliant with all pertinent CEN/ISO standards

T-Traffic provides its TMCpro service based on contractual agreements to automotive and receiver manufacturers, who integrate the service into their satellite navigation products.
